One of the (many) fun traditions we experienced for the first time this year was the lys fest (light festival) at Ava's school. We met on the soccer field and each family was given a torch to light. We then did a processional through our neighborhood, this beautiful line of lights lining the streets. When we got back to the school, all the children lined up with their classes and sang traditional Norwegian Christmas carols. It was lovely.
Ava with the torch and Karsten walked holding his friend, Lena's hand the whole time.
