For a good portion of the Spring, Ava kept referring to this friend she had made on the bus named Ines. She desperately wanted to plan a sleepover and claimed this girl to be her new best friend. Having never met Ines, feeling overwhelmed with life, and knowing Ava had both her brother and friends right across the street, I didn't go out of my way to pursue finding out more about Ines, including where she lived. Turns out that was probably a mistake on my part. One day we happened to see Ines and her mom and got to talking. This whole time they lived just a ways up our street, are this lovely family from France, with a girl Ava's age, a boy Karsten's age, were relocating to Shanghai and their dad had gone ahead before them, leaving the mom to fend here in Suwanee. We were living very similar lives. Struggling to keep it together. Sad and excited about moving abroad. And even had our international shipping containers coming on the same day! It felt like fate, the only problem was we were all getting ready to move in a matter of weeks, so there was not time to become best friends. But we enjoyed the days we did have and we got that sleepover in before the end of school. Hope to email, Skype and stay in touch with this family and hear about each other's adventures.
