On New Year's Eve ten years ago--looking out over the city of Bergen, with fireworks going off over head, John asked me to marry him. What an adventure we have been on since that night. It is almost in comprehensible to me to think of all that has happened in that time span. We have experienced a lot of JOY, many laughs, several tears. We have witnessed new life come into this world and experienced the grief of loved ones leaving us. We have moved to Norway, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA and back to Norway. We have had several jobs and lost several jobs. We have had to spend months and months apart on two different occasions. We have met wonderful people, been surrounded and supported by friends and family and grown in our LOVE and commitment to one another. There have been days that have been hard, there have been days that I think we both have thought about giving up, but there have been many more days that have shown us that we are meant to be together. We are lucky to have had the experiences we have had, we are so incredibly fortunate to have been gifted Ava and Karsten, and we are excited to see what the next several years brings.

This picture was taken the day we got engaged--we look like children.
I had much less hair, John had more. We both had fewer wrinkles. I love
the glow of this picture and the obvious happiness we shared in that moment.
