Last Morning in Our House

The last morning before we pulled out of town a couple from church came to buy our washer and dryer, we did one last walk through, said a final good bye to neighbors, and waited for the new owners to come pick up the keys and take over.  It was a really odd feeling, the house still looked like ours.  Many things were still in place as if we were living there (the new owners bought a good bit of our furniture, area rugs, drapes, etc).  All our personal things had been taken down and packed away, but all of our memories were still contained within those walls.  Bringing a three month old Ava to her new home in Atlanta, remodeling, bringing Karsten home from the hospital, hosting family visits, dinners, and birthday parties, seeing Sam bounding down the hillside in the backyard, watching the kids playing on the fabulous swing set built just for them by the extraordinary Uncle Phil, watching Ava walk onto a school bus for the first time. The past almost 7 years in Suwanee have been wonderful, our lives are forever changed because of the experiences we had and people we met here.  We will miss this place.  Passing the keys over to the new family was bittersweet--I hope their lives are blessed there, I hope they will make many wonderful memories of their own in that house, and I look forward to the adventures that lie ahead in our next home.
