Karsten had two birthday parties for kids in his class this weekend--on Friday night he went to his friend, Magnus' house for a Chima Lego boy fest. He came home thrilled, said it was so much fun and seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed himself. On Sunday afternoon was Malin's party, a princess themed girl fest. John dropped him off, but Karsten insisted he stay. Karsten said he didn't want to be there alone and was too shy. So of course, John stayed, which inevitably prompted Karsten to be clingy and not really engage much with his friends. John snapped this photo of him at the end of the party and when I asked him why he looked like he wasn't having fun, he told me, " Mom, this was a fancy dress girl party. Everyone just wanted to be a pretty princess and I am just not that into that stuff." Got it! The thing is, there were just as many boys there as well and they seemed to have fun, despite all the pretty. Hopefully there will be more boy parties to come.
