Sunday we drove the World's longest road tunnel (24.5 km) from Aurland to Lærdal. Anorter incredibly panoramic route that led us through lush green, fern filled hillsides, steep, jagged mountainsides and waterfalls. Our drive took us to Borgund Stave church; which Ava recognized from trips to Epcot Center. Only this one was larger, more authentic, covered in tar, and maintained from 1180. Looking at the carving and wood detail up close was phenomenal. Each wooden shingle on the roof was hand cut and attached with a wooded spike. The construction and intricacies were amazing.
