One of our days in Norway we spent in downtown Bergen--walking the town and seeing the Pepperkakebyen (Gingerbread City) which is the most amazing amount of gingerbread you will ever see. It is a town effort--various people, establishments, and schools all contribute pieces to this city. They assemble it to be a replica of Bergen, the mountains, the castle, waterways, the bridge to our old house, the train, etc. It takes up a huge space and is magical to walk through. It is dark and there are twinkling overhead lights, as well as all the houses being lit. My camera doesn't do this scene justice. The lower lit pictures give more of a feel for the space, but when I used my flash to show detail, it is too bright. The children loved walking through and seeing all the different houses, it truly is something of a fairy tale.

It must be so amazing to see this in person! I'm sure Ava & Karsten were just fascinated! I remember that you visted this when Missie & Eden came to see you while you were living in Norway. Must be a huge project to construct this!
Love,
Mom/Nana
