Ava loves being read to and always wants us to sit down, so she can tell us a story. This morning, she was pretending to read Cinderella, from the book- The Frog Prince (this chapter book is too long for her, but she likes to turn the pages and pretend to be reading.) Prior to me getting the camera, she did this AMAZING job of telling the story in order and with many details. Of course, once I got the camera and told her to tell me again; it got a little bit more random, as well as more difficult to understand. Here is a loose translation to what she is saying if you can’t make it out.
Translation:
In a far away kingdom, lived a gentleman (**nonsense) daughter Ella, she’s a beautiful girl. And the stepmother had two daughters, named Anastasia and Drisella. They were mean step sisters. And the step mother says, only if you have something suitable to wear and only if you get your work done. And the step sisters see Cinderelly, try her pink thing on and threw something. She runs to the garden, she cries and cries. And then there are twinkles around Cinderelly’s head. “Dry those tears”, says the voice. Look at my dress, Cinderella. (**Bibity bobity boo song.) They’re all dancing at the ball. (Clock strikes twelve) she runs and runs to the garden. Stop! Come back. But she lost her glass slipper and she had no time to pick it up. And when the bell rings she has to be back from the ball….
I think you can understand the rest from there. She started loosing interest, so my own voice prompts the ending. The part that amazes me isn’t the retell of the story, but rather the little details she remembers. Like having something suitable to wear, the twinkling lights around her head, and the narration- “Dry those tears,” says the voice. Clearly we have read this story a few times!

I LOVE this! What a wonderful imagination and how precious this is!!! Thanks for sharing!
Ava obviously knows her Cinderella story very well! I love how she keeps turning the pages, even without pictures to help her remember! So cute how she sings "Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo"! She will definitely be an early reader, and it's wonderful that she loves books so much.
Love & hugs,
Mom/Nana
