Mother's Day Mayhem

This Mother's Day the kids and I travelled to Charlotte for the weekend to spend time with our friends the Binghams. Since Pappa was still in Norway and Claire's husband, Logan was also going to be out of town, we thought that if we were single parents we should at least do it together. Claire is one of my greatest friends and we always enjoy one another's company. She has a four year old boy, Hayden that was very sweet with Karsten but thought they could play together better "once the baby grew up." And the twins, Chole and Audrey are just weeks older than Ava--so those three are peas in a pod. SO with five children four and under, who knows what we were thinking that this would be a fun and relaxing weekend?! The two grown ups were able to get a sitter once the children were in bed and go out for a yummy dinner. Unfortunately we returned to a very feverish Ava, who was either teething or starting to get sick. She was pretty much laid up the remainder of the weekend. So the rest of us just laid low--played with plastic cars in the drive way, had picnics, watched lots of movies, and enjoyed being together. As for the mommies--next time we are leaving the kids with the men and we are going away for the weekend.

Sounds like a good idea to me...you and Claire both have "paid your dues" and deserve a girls' weekend to have fun. And the dads can have all the fun with the children, right? Sorry that Ava was sick while you were there. I think the kids' expressions in the picture of all 5 together are pretty amusing...they don't look too happy about the photo! I'm sure you and Claire both wish you lived near each other, so you could visit more often.

Love & hugs,
Mom
