Stroll along a mile-long trail on 24 wooded acres and encounter over six hundred highly sociable birds and animals indigenous to the state of Georgia. White-tailed deer, bunnies, buffalo, sheep, kid goats, black bears and a bevy of new-born animals are waiting to be fed, admired and petted on a "nose-to-nose" basis. We specialize in "people-friendly" wildlife.
The reality was, it was a weird Georgia petting zoo of sorts. I found it to be a hodge podge of random animals that were walking around--chickens, peacocks, ducks, deer, and pot bellied pigs. The rest of the animals were in cages or fenced in, but could indeed be pet and fed. It is one of those things that you wonder how dirty your child's hands are getting from the experience-- as she went from feeding the animals to eating the crackers herself! Ava LOVED every minute of it. She is a girl crazy for all animals, who knows maybe she'll be a vet someday. She ran for 2 hours straight and hugged and kissed every animal that would let her. Karsten also enjoyed seeing the animals, but did so from a distance in the stroller. I was happy to get rid of wilted produce from the fridge and stale bread and crackers from our pantry--better to feed the animals, than throw it is the trash.

I like that you were able to get the animals to smile for the camera.
As long as Ava doesn't end up with "hoof and mouth" disease, dirty hands and some animal germs probably can't hurt too much! I bet Karsten didn't feed his crackers to the animals either. Fun for Ava to spend time with the animals!
Love & hugs,
Mom/Nana
