A BIG Southern Snow

On February 12th the kids got just what they had wished for earlier in the flour mess-- a real snow storm, by Georgia standards. I think we got close to 4 inches of snow, which is a lot for down here. It was enough to cover everything in a beautiful white blanket and make us all remember how magical snowfall really is. Because it is such a rare occurance, it truly is something special when it happens in Atlanta. It literally kept us "stuck in" the next morning, because of the sheet of ice that covered our very hilly neighborhood roads. The children were thrilled to play in this powdery playland. Two lots over from our house is a large pipeline easement that is typically a grass hill, on this day it turned into a great run for sledding. Unfortunately we do not own a sled, but the older boys that were going down the hill when we walked over were all too happy to watch a little girl take a few turns on theirs. Ava was adoreable and acted as if she had been doing this her whole life. After a few times down a small hill, she told me that she " wanted to climb to the top of the mountain and do the BIG one." Our little adventure girl-- wish we were skiing with her this winter. The best part about this beautiful dusting is that the next day it was 45 degrees and within 24hours the majority had melted, the roads were dry and life returned to our normal, mild weather. It certainly was fun while it lasted. As the older boys on the sledding hill said, " This is way better than the snow of 2005!" Hopefully it won't be another five years before we experience something similar.

Beuatiful pictures! Made me wonder -- you probably don't have a SNOW shovel, do you? I'm sure the kids loved playing in the snow! Forecast sounds like you might be getting more snow on Monday?

That's crazy! I didn't know it snowed that much in Atl. I haven't seen the white, fluffy stuff in about 6 years. I can't wait for Caden's first time playing in the snow.
