She's a Walker

Ava turns 14 months tomorrow and she seems to have nearly mastered the art of walking these past few weeks. That is not to say she doesn't still stumble and often fall, but today she got up every time she went down and tried again-persistant. She is very proud of her new accomplishment-as are John and I. This little girl does not have to go too long without praise. We clap and cheer for just about everything she does and now she is doing it for herself. She'll stand up in the middle of the floor, take a few steps, and clap and smile with the greatest delight. At least for now we do not need to worry about lack of self esteem-- Ava thinks she is pretty great (and she is right.) This past weekend she got her first professional haircut. The bang trim had already started to grow out and the back was in need of a good cleaning up as well. She has this very cute Dorothy Hamill cut, and luckily all the curls that were in back reappear after a bath. Ava has also begun to show an interest in hairstyling. She prefers natural products like maple syrup, mashed potatoes, or yogurt. All of these things seem to give her hair a lovely shine and helps it to stay put after a meal. What a silly girl...
Do you think my hair looks good with mashed potatoes in it?

I am determined

The tongue helps me to balance

Oh my goodness! She really looks so grown up now, to see her standing without holding on to anything! And her haircut is very cute!
Even if she looks like her Pappa, she inherited Julie's tendency to stick her tongue out when she is concentrating! Isn't that interesting? Happy 14 months to Ava today...can't wait to see you all in 2 more weeks!

YAY AVA!
Beautiful hairstyle! Now she's a walking woman with a great doo. Can't believe how big she is.
