Ava's Dance Recital--Peter Pan

On May 1st, Ava took part in her first ballet performance. The local studio where she takes classes has a spring show each year that features all their dancers, from age 3 to high school--this year's production was Peter Pan. Ava's class were the rainbows, a scene from Neverland. She was adorable in every sense of the word. She came out and did everything her teacher had asked them to do, and would throw in a wave to the audience (which was pitch black), trying to get my attention every few minutes. Then at the very end of their section; all the girls were to sit on the floor and then make their way off stage for the next scene. Ava sat, and looked straight ahead, as she had been asked to do--she just continued to sit there until the boat for the next scene started coming rolling toward her, at which point she stood up and ran off stage by herself. Everyone was cracking up, she was so cute. There is something about three and four year olds in tutus that melts your heart! She was so proud, came out for curtain call and did a lovely bow with all the big kids. John and I couldn't have been more proud, our little girl is growing up and becoming so confident. It is a joy to watch--my greatest hope is that she will continue to do things that she loves and finds happiness in doing them.

Ava was such a beautiful ballerina! And she seemed very poised, if she wasn't overwhelmed by all the excitement, the audience, etc. Maybe she will have a future in performing arts! Great pictures, and it looks like Karsten enjoyed the performance too.

Love & hugs to all,
Mom/Nana
