Yesterday was Karsten's actual birthday--unfortunately, he was rather sick on his big day. Both he and Ava have had a run of health issues this past week; starting with pink eye and developing into colds with coughs, poor Karsten seems to have gotten the worst of it. So we stayed home all day and just relaxed, in hopes that he will be feeling better soon. Last night our wonderful friends, Leah and Gabe joined us for take out Chinese and came with birthday cake and balloons in tow. It was very thoughtful and so nice to have people we care about here to share in the day with us. Karsten was pretty 'snotty' and miserable, but Ava and Gabe had a great time blowing out candles and devouring the chocolate cake!

Poor Karsten! We're so sorry that he has been sick for his birthday, and we hope he will feel much better very soon. You can tell in these pictures that he feels miserable. We hope he will enjoy his birthday presents. Thinking of all of you, and we miss you!
