Pappa's Day Hike

John received a baby backpack carrier as one of his gifts this morning. Technically, it isn't really something for him (Ava will get more use out of it) and by gifting him with this gear- it implied that I hoped he wanted to carry her when we go on hikes and other outdoor pursuits. He was up for it right away-so we loaded up the car and headed out about an hour and a half north of us, to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Appalachian Trail, where we set out to hike to the top of the Amicalola Falls. We had a great day and Ava amazed us with her positive spirit, she is such an easy going child. She seemed to really love that vantage point, never complained-despite the hot weather, and fell fast asleep on the way down. For John and I, it was a wonderful day-spent with family and reconnecting to the kind of nature that is similar to both Colorado and Norway-places we miss dearly.

I like it in my new pack, it makes for a comfortable ride!

Sam had a great day, too!
